Following the "Shanghai Yokohama Friendship and Exchange Agreement", and in order to promote the mutual development of public library services in both cities, Mr. Momoi Mitsugu and Ms. Yano Hikaru from the Public Affairs Bureau of Yokohama Education Commission were invited to visit Shanghai on September 10-12, 2024, and to conduct a three-day exchange and learning program at the Shanghai Library East, Library on Huaihai Road, and BIBLIOTHECA ZI-KA-WEI.

After finishing the program, Ms. Yang Chunhua, Secretary of the Shanghai Library Communist Party Committee, received Mr. Momoi Mitsugu and his delegation at the Library on Huaihai Road. Mr. Momoi Mitsugu, on behalf of the Yokohama City Education Commission, observed that Yokohama Mayor Takeharu Yamanaka was very much impressed after visiting the Shanghai Library East in April this year. He thanked the Shanghai Library for its careful arrangement of this exchange and learning program, and the enthusiastic service attitude of the librarians gave him a deep impression. Secretary Yang remarked that the excellent performance of the librarians is a reflection of the development strategy of Shanghai Library's establishment, development and revitalization. She hopes that Yokohama City Library will have the opportunity to share their management experience with the Shanghai Library in the future, and she looks forward to having further learning, exchange, and cooperation between the two sides in the future.
