Chinese-Australian Writer Jessica Au Donated a Book to the Shanghai Library

On August 13, 2024, Ms. Jessica Au, a Chinese-Australian writer, accompanied by Mr. David Warner, Deputy Consul General of the Consulate General of Australia in Shanghai, visited the Shanghai Library East and presented her new book to the Shanghai Library. Xu Qiang, Deputy Director of the Library received her.
Ms. Jessica Au and her friends toured the Library East, including the atrium, the Reading Square on the third floor, the Local History Library on the fourth floor, the Music Library on the fifth floor, and the Treasured Collections Library on the seventh floor. After the visit, Deputy Director Xu Qiang held a brief book donation ceremony for Ms. Jessica Au and they exchanged ideas on a number of issues.

Ms. Jessica Au donated her new book Cold Enough for Snow to the Shanghai Library and Jing'an District Library. Deputy Director Xu Qiang presented her a donation certificate on behalf of the Shanghai Library and expressed thanks to her. Deputy Director Xu gave an introduction to the guests and he said that the Shanghai Library has been accepting books donated by the Australian Consulate for a long time, and has a special space for Australian books in the Library on Huaihai Road. The Shanghai Library has also opened the "Window of Shanghai" in Australia, donating Chinese books every year. Deputy Consul General David Warner said the Consulate General of Australia in Shanghai hoped to work with the Shanghai Library to carry out more cultural exchange activities.

After the discussion, Deputy Director Xu Qiang presented the library’s special souvenirs to Ms. Jessica Au and Mr. David Warner.
Zhou Yi, Deputy Director of the Jing'an District Library, accompanied by personnel from the Reader Service Center, Reading Promotion Center and International Exchange Office participated in the meeting and accompanied the guests to tour the library.
