On June 5, 2024, Mr. Benjamin Meunier, Director of the Chinese University of Hong Kong Library, accompanied by the library’s Deputy Director Ms. Li Lifang and Senior Assistant Ms. Zhang Baozhen, along with Mr. Zhang Jia, Director of the Library of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), and Ms. Xu Hong, Director of the Duke Kunshan University Library, visited the Shanghai Library East. Mr. Chen Chao, Director of the Shanghai Library, and Deputy Director Xu Qiang, engaged in discussions with Mr. Meunier in the reception room on the seventh floor of the Library East.

Director Chen Chao extended a warm welcome to Director Meunier and his delegation, and provided an overview of the development of the Library East. During their discussions, both parties exchanged views on the scheduling, themes, formats, and participants of the 2025 IFLA Library Buildings and Equipment Section's working meeting, scheduled to be held at the Shanghai Library East.

Following the meeting, both sides exchanged gifts showcasing their respective library collections. Director Meunier and his delegation then focused on touring areas such as the Reading Theater, Reading Square, Smart Bookshelves, the Treasured Collections Library, and the Souvenir Shop.
