On April 11, 2024, Mr. YAMANAKA TAKEHARU, Mayor of Yokohama City, Japan, and a delegation of four visited the Shanghai Library East, accompanied by Director Zhou Guorong of the Asian and Oceanian division of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government. Yang Chunhua, Secretary of the Shanghai Library Committee of CPC, and Chen Chao, Director of the Shanghai Library, warmly welcomed the arrival of Mayor YAMANAKA TAKEHARU.
Mayor YAMANAKA and his delegation visited the atrium of the library, the Reading Square on the third floor, the Fine Arts Library on the fifth floor, the Pokemon Reading Room and the Treasured Collections Library on the seventh floor. After the visit, Secretary Yang Chunhua, Director Chen Chao, and Mayor YAMANAKA's delegation had a discussion and exchange of ideas in the reception room on the seventh floor. Secretary Yang and Director Chen respectively talked about the development of the Shanghai Library and the operation and services of the Shanghai Library East. Both sides exchanged views on digital transformation, energy conservation and emission reduction, library communication and cooperation, and looked forward to more cooperation between libraries and among librarians in the two cities in the future.
After the meeting, on behalf of the Shanghai Library, Secretary Yang presented gifts, including the Shanghai Library East Picture Book to Mayor YAMANAKA and his delegation.
