On January 19, 2024, Mr. Irakli Kobakhidze, Chairman of the Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia Party and former Speaker of the Parliament came with a delegation visited the Shanghai Library East.

Xu Qiang, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Library warmly received the delegation and gave an introduction to the construction and development of the Shanghai Library East. The Delegation mainly toured the atrium, the Reading Plaza on the 3rd floor, the Genealogy Library and Manuscripts Library on the 4th floor, Music Library on the 5th floor and the Treasured Collections Library on the 7th floor. Deputy Director Xu Qiang showed the guests how to use the book loan function of the smart bookshelf, and demonstrated the "Eternal" electronic family trees display screen and the largest gramophone in the library, the "EMI Loudspeaker".

Mr. Irakli Kobakhidze thanked Deputy Director Xu Qiang for his warm reception. Both sides hoped that in the near future, the libraries of the two countries can establish a cooperative relationship and learn from each other.
