Shanghai Library Receives Delegation from the Australia-China Friendship Association Western Australia Branch

On November 8, 2024, a six-person delegation led by Wu Yue, President of the Australia-China Friendship Association Western Australia Branch, visited the Shanghai Library. Yang Yongmei, Deputy Secretary of the Communist Party Committee of the library, received the delegation at the Shanghai Library East and conducted a friendly meeting.
During the meeting, President Wu Yue first highly praised the "Window of Shanghai" project established by the library in the Australia-China Friendship Association Chinese Library in Western Australia in 2021, and expressed sincere gratitude for the library's book donations to their institution in recent years. He mentioned that these donations, especially children's books, are very popular among local readers, particularly the younger ones. In addition, President Wu hoped to collaborate with the library in areas such as exhibition exchanges and special collection exchanges within the professional field of librarianship in the future, and invited the Shanghai Library to visit their location at an appropriate time. Secretary Yang Yongmei expressed her pleasure that the book donations through the "Window of Shanghai" have benefited local readers, and gave an overview of the Shanghai Library East to the foreign guests, expressing hope for further cooperation in the future. At the meeting, Secretary Yang accepted a book donation certificate from President Wu and reciprocated with books. After the meeting, Secretary Yang accompanied the guests on a tour of the Shanghai Library East, with a focus on visiting the children's area, Reading Plaza, Genealogy Library, and the Treasured Collections Library.
 


Also present at the meeting were Xu Jie, Director of the African and Oceanic Affairs Department of the Municipal Friendship Association, and relevant staff, as well as certain personnel from the library's Cooperation and Exchange Office and Reading Promotion Center.
