"2023 Shanghai - Taipei City Forum" Opening Taipei Delegation Visiting the Shanghai Library East

The "2023 Shanghai - Taipei City Forum" was officially held on August 30, 2023. After the forum, Chiang Wan-an, Mayor of Taipei, led a Taipei city delegation to visit the Shanghai Library East.
The delegation first came to the 7th floor of the library to have a panoramic view. Chen Chao, Director of the Shanghai Library, and Chiang Wan-an, Mayor of Taipei, exchanged gifts.

The delegation then visited the Treasured Collections Library on the 7th floor, which exhibited the original Qing Dynasty Kangxi engraved version of the "Taiwan Chronicles", which was the first local chronicle of Taiwan after the establishment of its local government. Director Chen Chao talked about how the library acquired this document. The Shanghai Library salvaged the document from the waste paper pile in a paper mill, which has become a unique and highly valuable historical document in the library’s collection.
The delegation then went to the exhibition area of the Music Library on the 5th floor to visit the exhibition of "Old Time in the Gramophone". Mayor Chiang Wan-an took a seat looking out of the window, wearing headphones to enjoy the music. He exclaimed, "This is such a great enjoyment”. After the digital processing and technological restoration of old records, the public can come to the library to enjoy listening to the music. Mayor Chiang Wan-an stated that these practices are all worth Taipei's consideration in the future, and he hopes to achieve overall optimization in the services provided to the general public in Taipei.

Afterwards, the delegation visited the Reading Square on the third floor, the atrium on the first floor, and the Music Hall on the ground floor, experiencing smart bookshelves and intelligent robot services.
