On the afternoon of September 8, 2023, H.E. Muhannad Alnaqbi, Consul General of the United Arab Emirates in Shanghai, visited Chen Chao, Director of Shanghai Library. The two sides held talks in the Reception Hall on the seventh floor of the Shanghai Library East.

Director Chen introduced the development of Shanghai Library and the “Window of Shanghai” project to Consul General H.E. Muhannad Alnaqbi. The Consul General told Director Chen that the UAE has always attached great importance to the development of the library industry, and the UAE Publishers Association often participates in various international book fairs. Every year, the UAE holds three major book fairs, namely the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, Sharjah International Book Fair and Dubai Book Fair. Director Chen mentioned that he had been invited to attend a conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia this year, and he hoped to take this opportunity to visit Mohammed Bin Rashid Library, the largest library in the Middle East built last year.

After the meeting, the two sides exchanged books and looked forward to further cooperation and exchanges between libraries in the future. Director Chen Chao accompanied Consul General to visit the Treasured Collections Library and " Looking at Guqin, Echoes of Three Thousand Years" Exhibition the seventh floor, the Reading Square and smart bookshelves on the third floor, the Children's Area and “around the world in 80 days” Exhibition on the first floor and so on.
