In the afternoon of June 19, 2023, Mr. Neil Parsanlal, Chairman of the National Library and Information System Authority, Republic of Trinidad and Tobago (NALIS), visited the Shanghai Library East. Xu Qiang, Deputy Director of the library welcomed Chairman Parsanlal's visit on behalf of the Shanghai Library.
Chairman Parsanlal was invited by the National Library of China to visit China and will stay 2 days in Shanghai from June 19th to 20th. Deputy Director Xu Qiang accompanied Chairman Parsanlal to visit the lobby on the first floor, the Reading Square on the third floor, the theme libraries on the fourth floor, the Music Library on the fifth floor, and the reading promotion area on the seventh floor. Director Wu Min of the Convention and Exhibition Center accompanied Chairman Parsanlal to visit the recently opened "AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS" exhibition, which was authorized by the British Library and jointly organized by MUSEUM BOX and the Shanghai Library.

Chairman Parsanlal mentioned that in April 2023, NALIS joined the Silk Road International Library Alliance (SRILA) initiated by China in 2018. He gave a high praise to the Shanghai Library East and hoped to further cooperate and communicate with the Shanghai Library in the future. Before his departure, Deputy Director Xu Qiang presented Chairman Parsanlal with a number of cultural and creative products of the Shanghai Library.
