On March 31, 2023, the first plenary meeting and the inaugural meeting of the Professional Committee for the Collation and Development of Ancient Books of China Ancient Books Protection Association was held in the Shanghai Library East. Liu Huiping, President of Ancient Books Preservation and Conservation Association of China, Chen Chao, Director of Shanghai Library, Ye Ruqiang, Vice President of Ancient Books Preservation and Conservation Association of China, Wu Kai, Deputy Secretary-General, and 15 members of the Special Committee attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Liu Wei, Deputy Director of Shanghai Library.

At the meeting, Deputy Secretary-General Wu Kai read out the approval documents of the Association on the preparation and establishment of the Professional Committee for the Collation and Development of Ancient Books and the suggested-member-list of the Professional Committee. President Liu Huiping and Director Chen Chao delivered speeches on behalf of Ancient Books Preservation and Conservation Association of China and Shanghai Library, the affiliated unit of the Professional Committee. Subsequently, the Ancient Book Collation and Development Professional Committee was elected.

The Professional Committee brings together the forces of ancient book collection units, colleges and universities and publishing units. In the future, it will be guided by the spirit of the "Opinions on Promoting the Work of Ancient Books in the New Era", giving full play to the platform advantages and linking role of the Professional Committee to improve the research and editing and publishing capabilities of ancient book collation.
