On April 11, 2023, the opening ceremony of the “Large-scale Petőfi Interactive Installation” Exhibition was held on the first floor of the Shanghai Library East.
The ceremony was presided over by Ms. Dzsenifer Halmai, Commercial Consul of the Hungarian Consulate General in Shanghai. Mr. Szilárd Bolla, Consul General of Hungary in Shanghai, and Mr. Lou Wei, Chairman, Shanghai Library Governing Board, China, delivered speeches at the ceremony.
Mr. Szilárd Bolla said, “This year coincides with the 200th anniversary of the birth of the famous Hungarian poet Petőfi. We are displaying this large interactive Installment, which is 3 meters high and weighs 650 kilograms. We will take this opportunity to promote cultural exchanges between Hungary and China, and help Chinese readers understand Petőfi and Hungarian literature.”
Mr. Lou Wei first gave a warm welcome to the distinguished guests of the Hungarian Consulate in Shanghai, affirmed the popularity of Petőfi's works in China, and gave a brief introduction to Petőfi themed bookshelf, which will allow readers to have a deeper understanding of Petőfi and Hungarian culture. Subsequently, five students from the Hungarian Language Department of the School of Russian and Eurasian Studies of Shanghai International Studies University read Petőfi's poems in both Chinese and Hungarian.
After jointly unveiling the interactive installment, Mr. Lou Wei accompanied Mr. Szilárd Bolla and his delegation to visit the Petőfi themed bookshelf on the fourth floor and the special exhibition halls of the Shanghai Library East. Representatives from the Hungarian Consulate General in Shanghai and the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, and a number of colleagues from the Jiaxing Library and Ningbo Library also attended the opening ceremony.
