This exhibition is based on “China in Classics”, a large-scale cultural program elaborately produced by CCTV, and revolves around eleven well-known classics from the Shanghai Library collections, including Shangshu, the Historical Records, The Analects of Confucius, Heavenly Creations, Bencao Gangmu and Elegies of the South, which presents in reality the scenes from the screen and let readers experience in an immersive way the origin and circulation of Chinese classics in the long history of 5,000 years.
From Sima Qian's study, where he wrote The Historical Records which is regarded as representing the “poetic perfection without rhythm”, to the agricultural school established by Song Yingxing, the author of Heavenly Creations, from the clinic opened by Li Shizhen, who healed the wounded and rescued the dying, to the weapon racks where Sun Wu retired to..., readers can not only have a glimpse of the eleven classics collections by the Shanghai Library, but also step into the historical scenes related to these classics and feel the charm of the classics.

“China in Classics”, as a key cultural innovation program of CCTV, focuses on Chinese excellent cultural classics, selects the most outstanding traditional Chinese cultural works and tells the stories about their completion, core ideas and circulation in the way of "cultural program - drama - film and television", so as to make the words in the classics "alive" and demonstrate the Chinese wisdom, spirit and value contained in the classics.
