On the morning of November 3, 2023, Mr. Carlos SERRANO VÁSQUEZ, Executive Director of the International Council on Archives (ICA), accompanied by Ms. Wang Lihua, Vice Dean of the School of Cultural Heritage and Information Management of Shanghai University, and others, visited the Shanghai Library East. Director Chen Chao attended the reception.

Accompanied by Director Chen Chao, Executive Director Carlos gave key visits to the Accessible Reading Room on the first floor,  the Reading Square on the third floor, the Genealogy and Manuscripts libraries on the fourth floor, and the Treasured Collections Library on the seventh floor.

Executive Director Carlos showed great interest in the Genealogy library. At the invitation of Director Chen, he also put on AR headsets, watched digital exhibitions under holographic images, and experienced real-time interaction in virtual reality.
The two sides hope that in the near future, Shanghai Library can establish cooperative relations with ICA and jointly contribute to the cause of document preservation.
