On August 31, 2022, the 9th "Shanghai Library Art Prints Day" series exhibitions opened in the second exhibition hall of the Shanghai Library. This exhibition consists of the 2022 Shanghai Art Prints Annual Selection Exhibition and the 2022 Shanghai Library Art Prints Collection Exhibition, displaying 30 items (groups) and 64 items (groups) respectively, as well as 3 works specially selected by the judges.
This year's submitted works come from a wider range of provinces and cities than in the previous years, and the subject matter of the works is more diverse. During the call for contributions, a total of 101 items (groups) were received from 14 provinces and cities, of which about 40% were works by artists from provinces and cities near Shanghai, about 68% were works by teachers and students in art academies, and about 74% were from young and middle-aged artists, showing the tendency of a wider range and that young and middle-aged artists have gradually become the active force in the creation and development of art prints. The collection of art prints in the Shanghai Library has a certain influence nationwide.
It is the responsibility of the library to promote the creative transformation and innovative development of Chinese excellent traditional culture and activate the vitality of Chinese excellent traditional culture with the spirit of the times. The Shanghai Library's collection of art prints will have a sustainable development, actively explore development opportunities, and earnestly do a good job in the collection of outstanding art print works, so as to provide readers with rich spiritual food.
