You are busy working and no time to borrow books from the library? You want to borrow books from the library but find it inconvenient to go out? Are some books published so early that they can't be found on the reading room shelves? It doesn’t matter.
The Shanghai Library's “Mail Book Loan” service is aimed at readers in Shanghai. The first batch of about 150,000 books in the closed stack will be available for loan, which will further expand the scope of “One-Card-Through” general book loan service. Readers can use the WeChat “Mail Book Loan” applet to find online the books available.
Guide to “Mail Book Loan”
Step 1: Login
If you already have a general book loan reader card, the login name is your card number, the initial password is your 18-digit ID number, and the letters should be capitalized (if you have changed your password, please use the revised password to log in). If you do not have a Shanghai Library Card, please click the “Online Application” button on the login interface, fill in the relevant information, and apply for the library card online.
Tips: The Mail Book Loan service is currently applicable only for the library general book loan card, and is not available for the functions of reference book loan and reference reading or children's reader cards.
Step 2: Borrow the book
Find the book you like, add it to the “Loan Bookshelf”, select the book you want to borrow from the “Loan Bookshelf” interface, and click “Borrow Now”; enter the order confirmation interface, fill in and confirm the delivery address, and click “Submit Order”; order payment is completed on the payment interface, and the order is placed successfully; after the order is placed successfully, the book will be delivered to your home by EMS.
Tips: A maximum of 3 books can be borrowed for a single order; the “Mail Book Loan” items are books in the stack for “One-Card-Through” general book loan service, and each card can borrow up to 15 books, which is included in the limit of general book loan. Before placing an order, please read the “Notice for Readers” carefully to understand the rules and charges of mail delivery.
Step 3: Return the book
Method 1: Click “My” in the navigation bar of the applet, and then click “Book Return” in the upper right corner to enter the “Mail Book Return” interface; check the Book Return button, confirm the address and pay the postage, and the courier will pick up the book(s), and return the book(s) to the library.
Tips: Books need to be packaged when returning. It is recommended that you reuse the bubble bags delivered to you together with the library book(s) by EMS.
The loan period for each book is 56 days and cannot be renewed. The loan period starts from the time the book is packaged out of the library, and ends when the library receives the book and confirms the return, including the time of shipping the book. Therefore, please pay attention to the book loan period, make an online reservation and return the book(s) at least one week in advance.
Method 2: Readers can return the book(s) to the “One-Card-Through” library book circulation service points in the city, districts and towns;
