The "Shanghai Library Night" held on World Book Day has been going on for several years and is now expected by the library readers every year. April 23 this year was originally the day when the new Shanghai Library East Building to be opened to the public. As the Covid-19 epidemic interrupts the normal rhythm of the city of Shanghai, the "Shanghai Library Night" was accordingly moved from on-site to online, and we did not miss the appointment with our readers.

The "Shanghai Library Night" is broadcasted live on multiple platforms, connecting readers' hearts together by means of cloud reading. The virtual idol Luo Tianyi has become the reading promotion ambassador of the Shanghai Library and met the library readers for the first time on the "Shanghai Library Night". To commemorate the "Year of Literary Miracle" 100 years ago in 1922, readers of different professional identities were invited to read a number of classic books together. Chen Chao, Director of the Shanghai Library, announced the theme of the 2022 reading season: Reading Enlightening the Mind and Books Connecting the Heart.

At the end of the "Shanghai Library Night”, "Blessing", a song composed by Luo Wei, presented the voice of every participant.
