On February 11, 2022, Chen Chao, Director of the Shanghai Library, met with Mr. Edward Shapira, Consul General of Israel in Shanghai, and Chen Jian, Curator of Shanghai Jewish Refugees Museum, and others in the VIP room on the second floor of the library.
The three parties discussed such matters as holding an exhibition of photos taken by the late Jewish photographer Sam Sanzetti at the Shanghai Library East Building in the second half of this year. Things left behind by Sam Sanzetti were donated to the Jewish Refugees Memorial Hall by the Israeli Consulate General in Shanghai in November last year, including nearly 600 photographs and more than 400 ordinary and glass negatives. These photos and negatives truly demonstrate the local scenes and uncompromising attitude of people facing the turbulent life in the old Shanghai under the lens of Sam Sanzetti.
Also present at the meeting was Ms. Mor Ben Moshe, Deputy Consul General of Israel in Shanghai.
