In the afternoon of June 11, 2021, Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Shanghai and the Shanghai Library jointly held the first Abay Kunanbayev Poetry Appreciation Conference in the Music Appreciation Room of the Shanghai Library. At the meeting, Mr. Rakhimov Rakhymzhan, Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Shanghai, and Mr. Chen Chao, Director of the Shanghai Library, delivered welcome speeches respectively. Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Shanghai donated the Abay Kunanbayev's Poetry Collection to the Shanghai Library. Director Chen Chao expressed his gratitude to Mr. Rakhimov Rakhymzhan and his delegation for their trust and love of the Shanghai Library. He believed that there will be more cooperation and exchanges between the two sides in the future.

Leaders and representatives from the Foreign Affairs Office of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government and Shanghai People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, representatives from major Shanghai science and education centers such as Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences and Shanghai Institute of International Studies, as well as Kazakh citizens and Kazakh compatriots in Shanghai attended the event.
