In the afternoon of April 14, 2021, Mr. Laurent Bili, French Ambassador to China, Mr. Benoît Guidée, French Consul General in Shanghai and other 11 guests visited Bibliotheca Zi-Ka-Wei. Mr. Chen Chao, Director of the Shanghai Library, accompanied Mr. Laurent Bili and other guests to visit Bibliotheca Zi-Ka-Wei.

Mr. Xu Jinhua, who is in charge of Bibliotheca Zi-Ka-Wei, gave an introduction of the history of Bibliotheca Zi-Ka-Wei, the two reliefs in the reading room and the Great Study in the north building. Librarians specially presented the collection of Western ancient books, especially the precious modern literature in French, which aroused the interest of Mr. Ambassador and his party. During the visit, Mr. Chen Chao hoped that Mr. Ambassador would create opportunities for the cooperation and exchange in the libraries of China and France. Mr. Laurent Bili readily agreed and said that the library is also his favorite place to visit. He will pay attention to it and try his best to promote the exchange between the libraries of the two countries.

After the visit, Mr. Chen Chao, on behalf of the Shanghai Library, presented Mr. Laurent Bili an exquisite gift, a fruit plate decorated with the special pattern of Shanghai Xiaojiangchang New Year posters.
