On March 12, 2021, Mr. Rakhymzhan Rakhimov, the new Consul General of Kazakhstan in Shanghai, visited the Shanghai Library. Mr. Liu Wei, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Library, warmly received him. During the meeting, Mr. Rakhimov reviewed the cooperation between China and Kazakhstan in the fields of economy and culture, and expressed the hope of establishing a Kazakhstan cultural center in the Shanghai Library, which can better communicate the history, culture and customs of his country to the readers in Shanghai through books and pictures. Director Liu gave an introduction to the construction of the Shanghai Library East Building, and expressed his gratitude to Mr. Rakhimov for his trust and support to the Shanghai Library. The Shanghai Library will carefully plan the layout of various public services and resources related to foreign countries after the opening of the East Building. Both sides are full of expectations for the future cooperation.
