On December 6th, "The Beauty of Books in China" in 2021 award exhibition and "2016-2018 China •The Beauty of Books " press conference was held in Shanghai Library.
"The Beauty of Books in China" is an annual selection activity about book design， sponsored by Shanghai Press and Publication Administration，held since 2003. It aims to excavate outstanding domestic works of book design, promote the development of quality and advance the progress of book designers, and select award-winning works to participate in the selection of Beauty of Books worldwide, held in Leipzig, Germany, contributing to the "Going Global" of Chinese books and Chinese books’ design.
Shanghai Library has participated in "The Beauty of Books in China" exhibition for many years, and has also held several exhibitions and promotions of the beauty of foreign books. This exhibition displays 25 award-winning works of this year, including "Summer's Story", "Remember the time when we are kids", "History of Architecture, Lectures by Professor Gumner", "Collection of Qu Yuan", "Research on Ancient Chinese Boundary Paintings", "National Route G318", and "Song Imperial Porcelain", " SHE Classics", " Activity Handbook of Qinling Research", "Su Kun" and other books. Every work comes with the name of book designer and publication unit, also the judges’ comments.
"2016-2018 China •The Beauty of Books" is a three-year collection of "The Beauty of Books in China" from 2016 to 2018, with a total of 75 award-winning works. The book is beautifully printed and has an ingenious design, which is designed by Zhou Chen, from Suzhou, Jiangsu. The book also won the award of "The Beauty of Books in China" in 2021.
At the press conference, Xu Qiang, deputy director of Shanghai Library, Zhu Junbo, deputy director of jury of "The Beauty of Books in China", Zhou Qiang, Department Director of International Exchange and Cooperation Department of Publicity Department of Shanghai Municipal Committee, Bi Sheng, president of Shanghai Literature and Art Publishing House, and Jiang Yiqing, president of Shanghai Culture Publishing House and several famous book designers from Shanghai specially came to the exhibition spot. They shared the information about the selection of "The Beauty of Books in China" of this year with the audience. Hu Guoqiang, president of Shanghai Publishing Association, and Gong Haiyan, president of Shanghai Changjiang Publishing Exchange Foundation, presented the collection of "The Beauty of Books in China" to Shanghai Library and several libraries in districts of Shanghai. Xu Qiang， from Shanghai Library， and Hu Guoqiang， from Shanghai Publishing Association， unveiled the book launch.
The exhibition starts from December 6th and ends on December 31st, displaying in Shanghai Library.
