At 10:00 a.m. on December 14th, 2021, Consul General of Cuba in Shanghai, Néstor Enrique Torres Olivera, and his wife visited Shanghai Library and were received by the director of Shanghai Library, Chen Chao.
Consul General Torres expressed that he and his family were deeply interested in reading, and therefore had a special affection for the library; toward the end of his four-year term, he took this opportunity to visit and donate several Chinese versions of famous Cuban writer, Carpentier, including: El siglo de las luces, El reino de este mundo, Guerra del tiempo y otros relatos. Consul General Torres also indicated that although he would leave office soon, he would inform the new Consul General in Shanghai of the current bilateral collaboration to further consolidate and strengthen the future cooperation between the two sides.
Director, Chen Chao, introduced the cooperation of libraries for years between two countries to Consul General Torres, especially the progress of "Window of Shanghai" project in La Biblioteca Nacional de Cuba José Martí and Biblioteca Provincial Elvira Cape. Director Chen Chao expressed gratitude to Consul General for the book donation, and he hoped after the epidemic, he could invite new Consul General of Cuba in Shanghai to Shanghai Library East Branch, and the two sides could carry out more cooperation and exchange.
