Yangtze River Delta "City Reading Card" Proposal Released

On May 25, 2020, Shanghai Library (Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of Shanghai), Nanjing Library, Zhejiang Library and Anhui library jointly issued the "City Reading Card (One-card Pass)" Proposal to the public libraries of three provinces and one city in the Yangtze River Delta region on the occasion of Library Service Promotion Week, calling on all libraries to cooperate, open up and innovate together, to jointly achieve "zero threshold for borrowing and reading permits, document delivery without borders, personalized services through the whole domain, and convenient borrowing and returning ways”.

 

In 2018, there were 368 libraries at or above the county level in three provinces and cities in the Yangtze River Delta, including 23 in Shanghai, 116 in Jiangsu, 103 in Zhejiang and 126 in Anhui. There were 10992 librarians, 287.35 million books in total and 1.275 books per capita and 41854 activities were held. The release of the "City Reading Card (One-card Pass)" proposal will further promote the accessibility of reading in the region and deepen the cooperation and interaction between public libraries in the Yangtze River Delta, thereby adding new help to the integrated development of public cultural services in the Yangtze River Delta.
