In 2019, libraries in the country did their best to create better reading environments, and they constructed new buildings or upgraded the old ones, which have become not only the public cultural service complex, but also the new landmark of cultural and tourist integration
1. Xinjiang Library
Opened on September 20, 2019, it has a total area of 56,000 m2, with a capacity for 5 million books and provides 3,000 reading seats. There are exhibition areas, learning and training areas, urban study rooms, multi-purpose lecture halls and etc.
2. Luoyang City Library, Henan Province
Opened on March 31, 2019, it was renovated from the original library building. It covers an area of about 4.75 hectares, with a total space area of nearly 32,000 m2. The building has a capacity for more than 2 million books and provides 2,400 seats. The construction adopts the modular design concept and the principle of laying out large spaces without separating different functional areas.
3. Jining City Library, Shandong Province
Opened on April 30, 2019, it provides 29,600 m2 of reading and activity spaces. There are many modern intelligent sections, such as "New Equipment" reading booths, Superstar AI library robots, and etc.
4. Chuzhou City Library, Anhui Province
Opened on May 22, 2019, the building has an area of about 25,000 m2. It has a capacity for nearly one million books, and there are more than 1,000 reading seats. The construction concept is "A Library in the Park".
5. Kezi Prefecture Library, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region
The renovated library building was opened on July 29, 2019. It has an area of 6,240 m2, and there are 15 new functional areas, including a local history reading room, a children's book loan room, a book bar, a book loan area for visually impaired readers and a closed stack. The library now has a collection of 180,000 books.
6. Liu'an City Library, Anhui Province
Opened on August 23, 2019, it has an area of about 20,000 m2 and the total investment was about RMB160 million. The library serves 1.2 million people and has a capacity for 1.2 million books.
7. Jingdezhen City Library, Jiangxi Province
Opened on September 8, 2019, it has an area of 15,000 m2. The library houses 610,000 books, and provides 15 service windows. It is a state first-level library, a national ancient book protection institute and a national public reading demonstration base.
8. Suzhou Second Library, Jiangsu Province
Opened on December 10, 2019, the library houses the only large intelligent integrated book stack in the country. It has three major functions, including public library services, material storage and distribution, and supporting services. The building façades demonstrate the idea of rotated paper, and present an image of stacked books.
9. Liuyang City Library, Hunan Province
Opened on December 27, 2019, the library has barrier-free large spaces and full open-shelf reading areas. It operates on an automatic service system, with intelligent electronic equipment and full Wi-Fi coverage.
10. Quanzhou City Library, Fujian Province
Opened on December 27, 2019, the library building is one of the "Four Petals" of landmark buildings in the city, with a total area of 48,000 m2 and currently a collection of 1.4 million books.
