The Bao’an Library in Shenzhen City has recently become the first in China to use a smart book sorting system with the technology widely adopted in logistics. Via robot librarians, the system has created a scenario where books can be sorted without any people standing by.
The smart system consists of two robotic operation platforms, including 28 sorting robots and 4 delivery robots. Once a book is returned and sent to the return window, a sorting robot will take the book to the correspondent shelf according to the book’s category. In other words, the whole procedure will be: book returned — sent to robot by conveyer bet — delivered by robot.
The smart system has freed librarians from procedures like collecting books from everywhere and categorizing them manually, saving lots of money and efforts. For citizens, the high efficiency and convenience brought about by artificial intelligence will change the way they live and work in the future.
