China recently released the Information and Documentation: The Method and Procedure of Assessing the Influence of Public Libraries, which will be enacted starting August 1. From then, there will be a unified standard for assessing the influence of public libraries.
Nowadays, people have more diversified approaches to obtain information and knowledge, mostly from the Internet. It has become increasingly necessary for public libraries to prove its social value of existence.
The new standard is formulated based on the latest fruits and findings of domestic and foreign researches, and the current situation of our country, to be both scientific and practical.
It’s also the first time for China to form a unified standard to assess the influence of public libraries.
