More Chinese people choose to read in a digital way, according to a nationwide survey in April.
A total of 76.2 percent of the respondents have tried digital reading in 2018, up 3.2 percentage points from 2017, while the comprehensive readership of books, newspapers, periodicals and digital publications has also risen to 80.8 percent, the survey found.
Mobile phones and the Internet have become the major media for Chinese people to access information, and they spent less time on print media. Averagely, an adult spends 84.47 minutes on the mobile phone every day, and 65.12 minutes on the Internet. For print media, an adult spends 19.81 minutes reading books averagely every day, and 12.3 percent of the respondents read book for more than one hour every day.
The survey also found that most people turn to the Internet to read news, socialize and watch videos, and more than half of the respondents prefer digital reading.
