Suzhou Second Library officially opened on the morning of December 10, 2019.
Suzhou Second Library covers a building area of 45,600 square meters, with a total of 7 floors, of which 1 underground and 6 above ground, divided into two areas, north and south. It is the largest library in Suzhou, with three main functions: public library service, document storage & distribution and supplementary service.
Four highlights and features stand out:
1. To build the first large-scale intelligent library of China.
The document storage & distribution area can hold more than 7 million books intensively, realize the maximum utilization of storage space, and take the lead in realizing the intelligent management of library services nationwide.
2. To create a "Reading Enjoying Space" that aspires children.
"Reading Enjoying Space" is aimed at children aged 0-14. It divides different areas according to different ages of children, and applies advanced technologies such as multimedia and 3D to create a novel, childlike and creative paradise for small readers.
3. To create a new high-end information service platform.
The library provides value-added information navigation service for enterprises and high-end business people, as well as venues for research and business talks.
4. To create a warm and comfortable public library for the citizens.
The library makes use of large space to create a comfortable reading environment, and strives to create a warm reading atmosphere. Supplemented by new technologies of modern library, it also combines reading learning with cultural leisure.
