Report released on the Influence Assessment on World-renowned Books from China in 2017
A report about the Influence Assessment on World-renowned Books from China in 2017 was released at the Beijing International Book Fair in August.
The report conducted a thorough analysis on the type of books collected by libraries, the most popular publications in overseas library collection, the most collected Chinese books in overseas libraries, and the oversea libraries that collect the largest number of Chinese books, providing timely information for Chinese publishers to expand the international market.
According to the report, by July this year, a total of 29,608 types of Chinese books published by 520 publishing houses in Chinese mainland had been collected by overseas libraries in 2016. The publishing houses have formed a core team with a substantial brand power and influence recognized by their international peers. The report revealed that Chinese contemporary literature has become the most popular type of books collected by overseas libraries. This year, the most collected Chinese book is The Jihua Flower written by renowned author Jia Pingwa.
The report also released two new lists. One is the top 30 Chinese publishing houses whose books have been most collected by overseas libraries in the past three consecutive years. The other is the top overseas libraries that have bought most types of Chinese books in the past three years. The National Library of Singapore, which have collected an average of more than 10,000 types of Chinese books annually, ranks No. 1 in the second list.
