Chinese Libraries Announced as Runners-up of IFLA Green Library Award 2017
IFLA’s Environmental Sustainability and Libraries Special Interest Group (ENSULIB) announced on July 20 the winner of the IFLA Green Library Award 2017. Two libraries from China, the Guangzhou-based Sun Yat-sen Library of and the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Library were selected as the Runners-up. Sun Yat-sen Library, Guangzhou Situated in pleasant tree-lined downtown Guangzhou, the Sun Yat-sen Library of Guangdong Province is based on a main building dating back to more than 100 years, which has been transformed into a green one with ideas of ecologically-friendlessness and energy conservation, as part of an ambition to become a modernized, sustainable public library. |
Chinese University of Hong Kong Library The CUHK Library embeds the principle of being green and sustainable in the Library strategy. To this end, the Campus Landscaping Enhancement Committee and the Committee on Campus Sustainability are set up to pool resources from the CUHK colleges, departments, faculties and the external parties to contribute advices for the Library’s “Go Green” strategy. |
