The NLC Signs MOU for BRICS Alliance of Libraries
Representatives from BRICS countries for cultural affairs inked an action plan on July 6 at a ministerial meeting held in Tianjin, pledging to step up efforts to strengthen cultural ties via the five-year plan (2017-2021).
The Five-year Action Plan covers a number of fields including arts, cultural heritage and industries, publishing, media, archives and personnel training among BRICS countries, aiming at more practical and effective long-term cooperation in the field of culture which is expected to create opportunities to strengthen mutual understanding and development among the BRICS countries.

The meeting also witnessed the establishment on July 5 of the BRICS alliances of libraries, museums, art galleries and children’s theaters, initiated respectively by the National Library of China, National Museum of China, National Art Museum of China and China children's Art Theatre.

Before the BRICS cultural ministers, Mr. Han Yongjin, the NLC director, signed the Memorandum of Understanding for the BRICS Alliances of Libraries, with his counterparts from Brazil, Russia, India and South Africa.
