According to a recent IFLA (International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions) announcement, Professor Cheng Huanwen was elected as a member of the IFLA Governing Body for a two year term from 2017 to 2019.
He was recommended by the Library Society of China in the capacity of the Vice President, with the approval from the Ministry of Culture of China, as a Chinese candidate for this year’s IFLA Governing Body election, aiming to strengthen the influence of the Chinese librarianship in the decision-making process of the IFLA issues and affairs, and to promote the collaboration and exchange activities between libraries of China and the rest of the world.
An internationally-renowned librarian and veteran scholar for library and information sciences, Professor Cheng boasts more than 3 decades of involvement in the library education, research and management.
