Shanghai Library Calls for Genealogical Open Data AD Contests
|
SHANGHAI Library and the MCPRC (Ministry of Culture of People’s Republic of China) nominated Public Cultural Service Research Base are now inviting submissions of open data AD (application development) outcomes as a promotional campaign of the recently opened Genealogy Repository Service Platform (GRSP, http://jp.library.sh.cn). The contest was kicked off on March 16th. In the next two months participants are tasked with developing prototypes or novel ideas for mobile products and services to be delivered via the GRSP, in an attempt of unlocking the value of the open data still hidden in the Platform, so as to maximize the data application potentials. Linking people together across time and space, and involving studies into the historic, demographic, economic and genetic sciences, the genealogy is of great importance in various researches on social evolution. Data to be opened for the contest will be mainly about Shanghai Library’s genealogical holdings in the aspects of title, author, time of making, edition, family name, ancestor, family’s origin, location information (glossary for administrative regions and geographical name), pedigrees and collection organizations, as well as a comparison of the annals of the Chinese and western calendars. The top winner will be awarded with the 20,000 yuan first prize. There are also two 10,000 yuan awards for runners-up and five 2,000 awards for the final nominees. The result of the contest will be announced during the Public Library Promotion Week scheduled at the end of this May. |
