The “Most Beautiful” Library on the New Campus of Tianjin University Draws Attention
With a new semester coming, the library on the new campus of Tianjin University will be opened on September 12. In the eyes of many teachers and students of the University, the library is the “most beautiful building on the new campus”. Before the new semester begins, photos of the library were noticed and transmitted by many students of the University, who are full of expectations for the “premium” library. With a ground floorage of more than 40,000m2, the library is mainly designed by Zhou Kai, a national-level architect and also a famous alumnus of the University. It is located in the center of the new campus of the University, with the plane of the main body taking the shape of a regular rectangle, and the interior being a central courtyard. On the whole, the library borrows the concept of “courtyard” from traditional Chinese architecture as a central spatial model to create an open cultural place with a modern campus spirit. |

In the central courtyard of the library, there are grass slopes, tree arrays, landscape pools, wooden landscape leisure platforms, opuscules and landscape floors, thus creating many natural local spaces and a beautiful and delightful multi-level spatial environment. In the library, there are various courtyards, public spaces and dooryards, not only catering to the comfortableness of lighting and ventilation, but also providing the library with diversified spatial layers and satisfying the readers’ psychological demands for spatial aesthetics. The library aims to satisfy the readers’ demands for comfort, convenience, communication and aesthetics. With indoor and outdoor courtyards, public spaces, leisure platforms, exchange spaces, phone booths and drinking fountains, the indoor and outdoor environments of the library are expanded and improved, thus providing the readers with ideal natural lighting, ventilation conditions and leisure service places. http://edu.people.com.cn/n/2015/0901/c1053-27539246.html |
