Shanghai Library Delegation Visits Libraries in Russia and Czech
 
At the invitation of the National Library of Russia and the Municipal Library of Prague, a 5-person delegation led by Mr. YE Ruqiang, Chairman of Shanghai Library Governing Board, from July 31 to August 7, 2015, visited the Russian State Library, the Moscow Central Universal Scientific Library after N.A. Nekrasov, the National Library of Russia, and the Municipal Library of Prague, and attended the exhibition opening ceremony of the Chinese New Year Paintings Collected in Shanghai Library.

Based on “Window of Shanghai” cooperation, the Shanghai Library maintains long-term friendship with the Russian State Library, the Moscow Central Universal Scientific Library after N.A. Nekrasov, and the National Library of Russia. This time, the delegation focused their visit on the operation of “Window of Shanghai” in each of the three libraries. On the afternoon of August 3, the delegation attended the opening ceremony of an exhibition themed on “Family is Happiness” held by the National Library of Russia. The exhibition showed several New Year paintings from the Shanghai Library’s collection. In the ceremony, speeches were given by Ms. Elena Tikhonova, Deputy Director General of the National Library of Russia, Ms. Wang Rui, Consul of Cultural Affairs of the Chinese Consulate General in St. Petersburg, and Chairman Mr. YE Ruqiang. Mr. Oleg Shorin, Deputy Director General of the National Library of Russia was also present. After that, Chairman Mr. YE Ruqiang was interviewed by the Russian TV and the St. Petersburg TV to talk about this exhibition and the cooperation between the two libraries and its development vision.

The Municipal Library of Prague is one of the best and active “Window of Shanghai” partners of the Shanghai Library. Ms. Zuzana Kopencova, Deputy Director of the Municipal Library of Prague received and exchanged with the delegation, with a PPT specially made for introducing the “Window of Shanghai” set in her library. Also, she showed great interest in the Window’s e-donation, and both sides would like to take a further step in this cooperation.
