Visits to the Libraries in Mexico and Cuba
 
From June 9 to 17, 2015, at the invitation of the Public Library of Jalisco State of Mexico and the National Library of Cuba, He Yi, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Library, Shen Liyun, Chief of International Cooperation Division and Deputy Chief Gong Jiawei went to Mexico and Cuba for exchanging visits and held exhibitions of the Chinese New Year Paintings Collected in Shanghai Library.
The "Window of Shanghai" project of the Shanghai Library started its cooperation with the Public Library of Jalisco State of Mexico early in 2011, and then provided the e-book service in 2013. This visit aimed to better understand the usage of the "Window of Shanghai" donated-books in the Public Library of Jalisco State and to further explore the possibilities of opening in the local places more cultural exhibitions with Chinese characteristics. Dr. Juan Manuel Durán Juárez, Director of the Public Library of Jalisco State received the delegation and spoke highly on the "Window of Shanghai" project. He demonstrated the valuable documents related to Chinese culture collected in his library, which deeply impressed the Shanghai colleagues.

Another important agenda of the visit was holding "Shanghai Library New Year Paintings" exhibition in the National Library of Cuba. The exhibition displayed 22 delicate paintings, which inspired Cuban people’s great interest and appreciation in Chinese culture.
