Shanghai Library’s “Xinjiang Day” Activity Held in Shanghai
On April 25, co-sponsored by the Press, Publication, Broadcasting, Film and TV Bureau of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, Shanghai Municipal Press and Publication Bureau and Shanghai Library, Shanghai Library’s “Xinjiang Day” Activity entitled “Beautiful Xinjiang Welcomes You” was formally started. Shanghai Library’s “Xinjiang Day” Activity was focused on three themes: celebrating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, the social stability of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, and co-building “Silk Road Economic Belt”. They aim to show to Shanghai people the unique cultural charms and abundant publication resources of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, and the achievements made in the publication of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in the past 60 years, especially since the Central Government held Xinjiang Work Forum in 2010, and to propagate the national solidarity, economic growth and social stability of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, and the spirit of different ethnic groups there in co-creating a good life. On “Xinjiang Day”, three activities were carried out: (1) Xinjiang Book Fair, which exhibited 301 books and 30 electronic, audio and video publications. They embody the unique natural scenery, folk customs, cultures and arts of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region; (2) Charming Xinjiang Photo Fair, which exhibited 50 photos about the human landscape, natural scenery, cultures and customs of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region; (3) “Silk Road Xinjiang” Forum, where Glizan Turahon (head of the Press, Publication, Broadcasting, Film and TV Bureau of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region), Lu Tianming (member of presidium of Chinese Writers’ Association and a national-level screenwriter), Han Tianhang (a writer from Shanghai and the author of Back to a Shanghai-style Home Building and Gobi Mother), Kurbanjan Samat (the author of I Am from Xinjiang), and Nurali Abliz (a lecturer from the New Oriental School) discussed issues of how to read and write good books, to develop the press and publication of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, and to do a good job in national solidarity. At the launching ceremony, the Press, Publication, Broadcasting, Film and TV Bureau of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region donated to Shanghai Library A Collection of Books on Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in 25 volumes.
