The Ninth General Assembly of the Library Society of China Held in Beijing
On April 9, 2015, the Ninth General Assembly of the Library Society of China was held in Beijing. A total of more than 400 people attended the meeting, including the bureau members, advisors, specially invited executive directors of the 8th Council, as well as official representatives, delegates and invited guests from the Ministry of Culture, the National Library, the various sections of the Library Society of China and libraries from provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities.
The general assembly reviewed and approved the Working Report of the 8th Council of the Library Society of China: Sustainable Development, Creativity and Innovation for the Full Development of the Chinese Librarianship, the Financial Revenue and Expenditure Report of the 8th Council of the Library Society of China, the revised Charter of the Library Society of China and the Library Society of China Membership Fees Standards and Management Practices.
The General Assembly elected the 9th Council. The first meeting of the 9th Council elected executive directors and heads of the society, approved the appointment of Deputy Secretary General of the 9th Council, the decision to engage advisors for the society and grant the title of honorary directors. Han Yongjin, Director of the National Library was elected as Chairman of the Council.
At the closing ceremony, the advisors and honorary directors were issued certificates and the resolution of the General Assembly was declared. The General Assembly proposed that the Library Society of China should closely unite and rely on all members of the society, the libraries in the whole country and professionals and researchers in related industries to give full play to the enthusiasm of the various sections, special working committees and local library societies. It is important to seize the opportunity, conduct innovation, enhance the professional level, strengthen capacities and win the support from a wide range of governments and social forces, in order to build the library society into a modern social organization with strong academic influence, industry coordination, membership cohesion, social credibility and self-development power and make greater contributions to the development of new libraries in China!
