Cooperation Established between the Shanghai Library and the National Library of Wales

| March 11, 2015: A fascinating lectured themed on “Digitisation at the National Library of Wales (NLW)” was delivered to the Shanghai Library by Ms. Avril E. Jones, Director of Collection Services of the NLW. In her lecture, Ms. Jones introduced in depth the policies, procedures and practices of NLW collection digitization, with comprehensive pictures and visual information. At the Q & A session after the lecture, audience, with great enthusiasm, asked questions according to his/her position situation at the Shanghai Library, hoping to learn from the experience of the NLW. Dr. WU Jianzhong, Director of Shanghai Library, asked about the NLW website collection and exchanged ideas with Ms. Jones. In the evening, at the St. David's Day Reception held by the Shanghai Office of Welsh Government, Ms. Jones and Dr. WU Jianzhong, each on behalf of the National Library of Wales and the Shanghai Library, signed the Memorandum of Cooperation between the two sides, under the witness of Mr. Yu Jianhao, Vice President of Shanghai People's Association of Friendship with Foreign Countries, Mr. Matt Burney, Director of British Council East China and Mr. Gary Davies, Director of European and External Affairs of Welsh Government. Both libraries expressed the wish to further enhance friendship and conduct cooperation. |
