Shanghai Library Joins DCMI as an Institutional Member
On 2015-01-12, the DCMI announced on its home page at http://dublincore.org/ that the Shanghai Library joined DCMI and its Governing Board as an Institutional Member. Mr. Wei (Keven) Liu, deputy director of the Library, and co-chair of the DCMI Education & Outreach Committee, will serve as the Shanghai Library's representative on this Governing Board.

The Shanghai Library has been a consistent and loyal supporter of the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative for over a decade. The Library was host to DCMI’s very successful Annual International Conference in 2004. In June of 2014, the Shanghai Library hosted a DCMI Regional meeting in cooperation with DCMI AsiaPac. Over the years, the Library has developed Chinese translations of key DCMI standards, specifications and tutorial materials. Library personnel continue to serve in key committee positions and work diligently to guarantee the success of DCMI’s activities.

In the future, under the leadership of DCMI, the Shanghai Library will provide its continuing service in advancing innovative applications of metadata for the nation’s cultural heritage and the development of professional metadata best practices in China.

DCMI and its Governing Board: The Dublin Core Metadata Initiative supports shared innovation in metadata design and best practices across a broad range of purposes and business models.
