Shanghai Library hosts SCIF 2015
Shanghai Library & ISTIS (Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of Shanghai) is hosting a grand meeting of the CI (Competitive Intelligence) professionals on October 22-23 with joint efforts from a number of partners, including the Shanghai Society for Scientific & Technical Information, the editorial office of Competitive Intelligence Magazine, the Shanghai New Technology Research Center and the Shanghai Research Alliance for Intelligence of Newly-emerged Industries. As one of the most influential international events of its kind in China, this event, known as SCIF or “Shanghai Competitive Intelligence Forum”, has launched the fourth gathering since its inception in 2003. Themed “Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Maker & Competitive Intelligence” and aimed at giving CI the full play in ushering in a golden age for “mass entrepreneurship and innovation”, the SCIF 2015 brings together hundreds of delegates from home and abroad, among them were some 20 CI experts, decision-makers for business and researchers on regional economies from China, U.S., Japan and Argentina, to debate on topics such as city innovation, venture capital investment, makers and above all, the competitive intelligence. At the opening ceremony, which was presided over by the deputy director of Shanghai Library & ISTIS Mr. Chen Chao, Mr. He Yi, another deputy director of the host and the representatives from the ISTIC (Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China) and CSSTI (China Society for Scientific and Technical Information), gave welcoming remarks and congratulatory speeches respectively. Speeches were then made by keynoters including Mrs. Nan Bulger, the CEO of SCIP (Strategic and Competitive Intelligence Professionals), Mr. Wang Jianmao, a visiting professor of CEIBS (China Europe International Business School), and Ms. Dong Jielin, the distinguished professor of Soochow University, addressing on CI, the climate for innovation and business startups, and the future of the technological revolution. Group discussions were scheduled through the two-day event – they were “Innovation Center: from an Intelligence Perspective”, participated by attendees from the Japan-based Meiji University and Mori Memorial Foundation, Taiwan Industrial Technology Research Institute, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, the East China Normal University and China National Chemical Information Center; “Entrepreneurship: Exploring New Opportunities through Intelligence”, a panel session dedicated to scholars and businessmen from the Japan University of Economics, the Haier Group and a couple of new ventures such as the VSharing.com and Transn Ltd; and “Maker: Intelligence bring Creative Thinking”, which attracted local and foreign makers to exchange their experience and expertise in terms of how to initiate a maker space, and how the individual innovation activities are to be propelled by the CI toolkits, methodologies, and most important, the CI ideology. |
