To rescue and protect the precious resources of the Republic Period, transmit and carry forward the excellent traditional culture, in 2011, the National Library of China joined efforts with various libraries and book collection institutes in the country and launched the "Republic Period Resources Protection Plan". With the active participation of libraries around the country and the enthusiastic support of experts in academic areas, this project has achieved important results in all aspects of work, including resources survey, foreign resources collection, organization and publication, and etc.
The membership libraries have uploaded bibliographic data to the National Library Union Cataloging Center, which has double checked the data and reloaded them to the Republic Period Resources Union Catalog system. As of May 2014, the system has accumulated more than 200,000 bibliographic records of books and 500,000 records of other items from 14 libraries, including the National Library, the Capital Library, the Nanjing Library, Chongqing Library and etc.
Currently, the "Republic Period Resources Protection Plan" has published 38 titles in more than 1,400 volumes.
