2014 Shanghai Book Fair Opens and "Shanghai Public Reading Survey Report" Shows that
People Still Prefer to Read Print Books

On the eve of the 2014 Shanghai Book Fair, the Shanghai Press and Publication Bureau officially released the "Shanghai Public Reading Survey Report (2014)".
The "Report" shows that people still prefer to read print books, and the time spent on reading print books has increased, while the time on digital reading has decreased a little. According to the "Report", a majority of the public regard print books as having the best reading results (70.65%). As for the “best way” of reading, the traditional (print) reading demonstrates a tremendous advantage, which is 25.15% higher than the "digital reading", and the difference is larger than in 2013. Equally, as for the allocation of time between digital reading and print reading, "print reading" has shown the tendency of increase, that is, "digital reading<paper reading": 44.60% versus 33.05%; the former is 11% higher than the latter.
