In the afternoon of June 23, 2014, the opening ceremony for the Shanghai Central Library Shanghai Tech University Branch was held at the Shanghai Tech University. Yin Jie, Vice President of the Shanghai Tech University and Zhou Demin and Liu Wei, deputy directors of the Shanghai Library, as well as employees of Shanghai Tech University and the Shanghai Library attended the ceremony. Michael A. Keller, Stanford University Librarian also attended the opening ceremony as a specially invited guest. Zhang Jia, Director of the Library and Information Center presided over the opening ceremony.

The Shanghai Tech University Branch is the 269th member the Shanghai Central Library System, and the 15th university library branch. To strengthen the close cooperation between the Shanghai Library and the Shanghai Tech University Library and Information Centre, the two sides will realize digital resource and service sharing and construction, expand bilateral services areas and create good cultural and social benefits.
