Introduction The making of films has a history of over a century. With the development of film art, music has become an indispensable important component in this art. The creation of color films, the wide-screen technology, the stereo and Dolby audio systems, the application of digital multi-track recording technologies are accompanying the progress of science and technology. The importance and possibilities of film music is far beyond people's expectation, and a variety of film music in new styles and new genres are emerging.
The Shanghai Library is inviting Professor Peter Kam, a DeTao master composer to give a lecture and will lead us to feel the unique charm of the film music.
Introduction to the Guest Speaker Peter Kam, Diversified musician, was trained at the San Francisco State University and the Dick Grove School of Music. Kam is well-known for his unique personal style and creative ideas on the production of films, advertisement and popular music, and has provided rare opinions to the production of many films and their sound tracks.
In 1999, with "Fly Me to Polaris", he won the Best Original Film Music Award of the 19th Hong Kong Film Awards and the theme song "Sing Yu Sum Yuen" also won the Best Original Film Song Award. In 2005, with "If • Love" he won the Best Original Music Award and the Best Original Film Song Award of the 25th Hong Kong Film Awards, and in 2006, with "Isabella", he won the Silver Bear Best Film Award at the Berlin Film Festival. He has achieved excellence in this field. His latest works include "Reign of Assassins," "Martial Arts", “The Viral Factor” and “The Cold War”, of which, the " The Cold War" again won the Best Original Music Award of the 32nd Hong Kong Film Awards.
