On March 25, 2014, a new “Window of Shanghai” of the Shanghai Library was unveiled in the Toyama Prefectural Library of Japan. The book corner of the Window was set on the second floor of the Prefectural Library, displaying a wide variety of books to the public, including Chinese classical literature like Journey to the West, and some works by Mo Yan, the 2012 Nobel Prize winner in literature.
Starting from 2002, the Shanghai Library has donated books to the world through its “Window of Shanghai” project. In November 2013, the Shanghai Library signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Toyama Prefectural Library, and then in March 2014 donated approximately 800 volumes of books to the Japanese partner.
The Toyama Prefectural Library made a specially-designed Web page for this donation, which can be found at http://www.lib.pref.toyama.jp/info/svInfoDtl.aspx?servno=345
