"Zhang’s Genealogy from Huanghua, Leqing" Became Part of the Shanghai Library Collection
On March 6, the ceremony for the donation of “Zhang’s Genealogy from Huanghua, Leqing” was held at the Shanghai Library. Ms. Zhang Leiping, a famous painter and Vice-Chair of the Shanghai Artists Association said on behalf of the donors that when genealogies become part of the Shanghai Library collection, it is not only conducive to the preservation of the genealogy and the in-depth academic research, but also helps to strengthen the cohesion of the Chinese national spirit. On behalf of her family, she expressed thanks to the Shanghai Library for what is done for the restoration of the genealogy. The Shanghai Library did not have the two genealogies in its collection before this donation, and they are not found in the  "General Catalog of the Chinese Genealogies" and other genealogical catalogs, either. The donated genealogies are handwritten, which is rather rare in the world. Especially, there are very rare color portraits on certain pages. These precious genealogies have become part of the Shanghai Library collection and will be highly valued.
