"Shanghai Library Lecture" Special Offer in 2014 Chinese Spring Festival
 
 

 

In the coming Chinese Spring Festival, the Shanghai Library will provide readers with a series of lectures entitled "Elegant China”, covering the topics of Chinese cuisine, aroma doctrine, collection and so forth, to show the wisdom and grace of Chinese people’s traditional lifestyle.

On the afternoon of February 4, Ms. Kong Mingzhu, a famous writer as well as the blogger of "Lady Kong’s Kitchen", will deliver a lecture named “Custom and Cuisine in Spring Festival” to talk about what Chinese people especially local Shanghainese do and eat in the Lunar New year.

 

On the afternoon of February 5, Mr. Wu Qing, the counselor of Chinese Aloeswood Research Institute and a famous collector, will tell about the history and culture of Chinese traditional aroma doctrine, and introduce different kinds of equipments used in Chinese aroma activities, which has been origin from Pre-Qin and Han Dynasties and lasting for thousands of years.

 

Antique ornaments are favourites for a lot of female collectors. Ms. Hu Jianjun, Associate Professor of Fine Arts College of Shanghai University, boasts over a hundred pieces of old silver jewelleries of Ming and Qing Dynasties. On February 6, she will bring some of her real collections and pictures, sharing with audience their beauty and the stories behind them.
