Memorandum of Cooperation Signed between National Library of China and the College of Europe

On Oct. 24, 2014, “Memorandum of Cooperation between National Library of China and the College of Europe on Library Cooperation” and “Memorandum of Understanding on Book Donation by National Library of China to the College of Europe” were signed between National Library of China and the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium. On the same day, a delegation headed by Vice Curator of National Library of China Wei Dawei visited the College of Europe. According to the memos, both parties will cooperate in personnel and book exchange, exhibition, and publication.
National Library of China is a national book library, national booklist center, national ancient books protection center, and national museum of ancient codes and records. National Library of China has all kinds of books published in China and foreign countries from ancient to modern times. At the end of 2013, the Library has a collection of 32,442,800 books (pieces), ranking the 5th among national libraries in the world, and increasing at a speed of nearly 1 million books (pieces) a year.
The College of Europe is one of the most renowned academic institutions in the world that is focusing on postgraduate education and specialized in European affairs, an important think tank of EU’s, and the cradle of European statesmen. In March 2014 when President Xi Jinping visited Europe, the State Council Information Office helped build “China Pavilion” for the College of Europe, thus establishing a new platform for the educational and cultural exchange and cooperation between China and Europe.
