2014 Annual Conference of the China Society for Library Science Held in Beijing
On October 10, 2014 Annual Conference of the China Society for Library Science was held in Beijing. With the theme "The Power of Librarians: Reform, Development and Progress", this conference was divided into three sections, including working meetings, academic conference and exhibitions. The highlight of this annual conference was that the idea of developing the traditional Chinese culture covered the various sections, demonstrating the development and achievements of libraries, promoting professional exchanges and cooperation and achieving the mutual promotion of cultural undertakings and cultural industries.
The annual meeting adopted the model of "theme forums + academic sessions", with four theme he forums and 23 academic sessions, covering such topics as the Development of Public Library Service Systems, Public Libraries Corporate Governance, Children's Reading, Library Teenage Services, Library Performance and Value Assessment, the Continuing Education of Librarians, Ethnic Minority Librarianship Development, the Innovation of Regional Library Consortia, Library Family Reading Services, Library Volunteer Cultural Services for the Visually Impaired, Television Library Construction, Resources Acquisitions, Local Documents Services, Library Book Club, Library and Community Cooperation, Library Decision-making Advisory Services, Visual Documents Development, New Library Experiences, Knowledge Organization and Discovery, Open Access, Building Institutional Repositories, University Reading Promotion Activities, American University Library Practices. Nearly 2,000 librarians from different types of libraries at all levels in the country attended the opening ceremony of the conference.
At the opening ceremony, eight librarians were awarded the title "2014 Chinese Library Role Model", and 10 primary libraries were given the title "2014 Best Grassroots Library".
